A Martin Luther King Jr. Day keynote address was presented by Yvonne Latty at Mount Union College.

Latty is a reporter for the Philadelphia Daily News and the author of "We Were There: Voices of African American Veterans from World War II to the War in Iraq."

After September 11th, Latty got a call from a Vietnam Veteran asking her to do a story on a World War II Veteran. While researching, Latty began noticing that African Americans were rarely mentioned as being part of World War II. She became very interested in interviewing African American War Veterans about their experiences.

Latty said her book is not just a book of history but of people and families.
