Strickland Hopes to Empower People and Govern with the Golden Rule
A desire to lift up, support and in someway help others has been a motivating factor in running for governor of Ohio said U.S. Representative Ted Strickland during an address at MountUnionCollege last night.
Helping and empowering others became a common theme throughout the address. Strickland said a governor cannot help Ohio all alone. Instead, he said a governor needs to work to empower the people of Ohio and lift the state out of its current slump.
The congressman also said he tries to be a golden rule democrat. As governor of Ohio, Strickland said he would implement the golden rule and treat the people as he would want to be treated while fulfilling his public responsibilities. He said he envisions an Ohio that is rooted in the values of this golden rule.
Strickland ended his address by describing an echo of hope throughout Ohio that says we can do better. He said this hope is ready to be put to purpose.
