Major: Exercise Science

Why did you choose to pursue your degree? When I was younger I received physical therapy for many months. I wanted to pursue something I enjoyed and that had and impact on my life. I enjoy taking care of others and this is the perfect field to do so.

What types of jobs are available for students who share your major? There are so many options, such as a nutritionist, personal trainer or in the fields of cardiac rehabilitation, occupational therapy, physical therapy and strength and conditioning coaches.

How will you use your degree upon graduation? Working for a large company as a health and fitness trainer is one of my goals. I would also like to open my own cardiac rehab practice.

What activities are you involved in? I am a Preview and Orientation guide, president of the exercise science club, and participate in Relay for Life.

Elements a person should possess to succeed in your major? Patience and a willingness to help others.

What advice can you offer for someone who is considering having the same major as you? Never get discouraged by anatomy or chemistry! If you can get past those courses your options for a career are endless!
