Hometown: Canton, OH

High School: Central Catholic
Major: Early Childhood Education

Why did you choose to pursue early childhood education at Mount Union? I chose Early Childhood Education as my major because I have always enjoyed working with children and want to make education a positive experience for them. With my father being an educator at the college level for the past 35 years, I have come to truly appreciate the importance of education and the impact it has had on my life. My father has been a true inspiration and positive role model in my life, and I hope one day to be the same for my students.

What types of jobs are available for students who share your major? Early Childhood Education offers teaching jobs from grades Pre-K through 3.

How will you use your degree upon graduation? Upon graduating, I plan on using my degree to find a job teaching at the Elementary level.

What activities are you involved in? Co-President of Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society, Blue Key Honor Society, and SNEA (Student National Education Association)

Elements a person should possess to succeed in your major? I believe a good teacher should be passionate, caring, determined, and motivated to teach.

What advice can you offer for someone who is considering having the same major as you? Education is a major that requires a lot of time, dedication and heart. I think it is important to make sure teaching is something you truly have a passion for and enjoy being involved with everyday. Love what you are doing!
