Hometown: Fairview Park, OH

High School: Fairview
Major: Mathematics

Why did you choose to pursue mathematics at Mount Union? I like how math has rules and steps that must be followed in a certain order, but also requires abstract thought.

What types of jobs are available for students who share your major? There are many jobs available, not just in education. Someone with a Mathematics degree can be an engineer, work for government agencies, and in the ever growing computer software industry.

How will you use your degree upon graduation? I am undecided, but am considering working for an insurance company with my concentration in statistics.

What activities are you involved in? Some of the things I am involved in are Math Club, Pi Mu Epsilon national math honorary, Alpha Lambda Delta national freshman honorary, and Problem Solving Seminar.

Elements a person should possess to succeed in your major? A person majoring in Math should be open-minded and a critical thinker. They should also work well with others and be able to ask for help.

What advice can you offer for someone who is considering having the same major as you? Advice I can give, be patient, Math is time-consuming, and take advantage of the professors' office hours, the Math tutors and the Math Resource Room.
