Major: Theatre

Why did you choose to pursue your degree? I am a theatre major with a concentration in costume design because I love to sew and wear costumes.

What types of jobs are available for students who share your major? There are construction jobs in theatres and clothing manufacturing companies. There are also quite a few jobs for those who possess basic sewing skills.

How will you use your degree upon graduation? I hope to participate in an internship or work with a small local theatre.

What activities are you involved in? I am the President and Historian of MUC Players, where we do a lot of fundraising and are currently working on a donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital. I am the Historian and co-social chair of Alpha Psi Omega, the theatre honorary fraternity on campus. I am also on the board for Relay for Life and am a member of the swing-dancing club on campus. I also participate in all the theatre productions that are put on in the Rodman Playhouse. We have two fall shows, a spring show, one-acts and SCE shows at the end of every year and I have worked on every one since my freshman year.

Elements a person should possess to succeed in your major? The most important quality one should possess is the willingness to work with others. Everyone must work together in order to put on a successful show.

What advice can you offer for someone who is considering having the same major as you? The most important thing is to not be afraid. It is difficult at first but the best way to achieve success is to work together.
