Hometown: Bedford, OH

High School: Bedford
Major: German

Why did you choose to pursue German? I chose German as a major because I took four years of it in High School and I have always had a love and passion for learning different languages. I am actually on my way back to Germany in July on a scholarship for a year. I will be going to school and working while I'm there. This scholarship is through the Congress-Bundestag program, so I'm very excited about that and definitely looking forward to going back to Germany.

What types of jobs are available for students who share your major? There are jobs in translation and many teaching positions as well.

How will you use your degree upon graduation? I am actually in the process of finding an internship in Germany, then after that who knows.

What activities are you involved in? I am a community educator on campus, and I also help out with Association for International Students and the Black Student Union.

Elements a person should possess to succeed in your major? You must have a passion for learning different languages and exploring different cultures.

What advice can you offer for someone who is considering having the same major as you? Practice speaking as much as possible, take advantage of the international students on campus and STUDY ABROAD!
