ALLIANCE, Ohio --- Alliance resident Tony Lee has made a significant gift to help fund the Gulling Training Center currently under construction west of Mount Union Stadium at Mount Union College.

Lee, a 1950 graduate of Mount Union, made the gift in honor of his late wife, Beverly Jean Bowden Lee, a 1951 Mount Union graduate.

The $750,000 training center has been funded by four major gifts including the lead gift from Paul Gulling, a 1980 graduate from North Canton; Basil Strong a 1926 alumnus of the College; Bob Bordner of New Washington, Ohio; and Lee.

The 12,750 square-foot building will contain offices, classrooms and areas for plyometrics and sprinting, as well as a weight area for strength training. It is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2001.

According to Dr. John L. Ewing, Jr., president of the College, the center will serve the needs of student-athletes while alleviating a space crunch in the current physical education complex. "We are grateful to Tony Lee for this important gift to the College," Dr Ewing said. "Through the years, Tony has been supportive of the College as a Century Raider and M-Club member, and this latest contribution in Beverly's honor will make a significant difference in the lives of our student-athletes."

Lee, who played on the football and basketball teams at Mount Union, was the sophomore and junior class president and member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at the College.
