Hometown:
Alliance, Ohio

Major: Media Studies

Why did you choose to pursue your degree?
I was undecided on a major when I came to Mount. My first semester I was enrolled in public speaking to fulfill a general requirement and it peaked my interest in the communication field. After speaking with professors in the department of communication I decided I wanted to focus my education on media studies.

What types of jobs are available for students who share your major?
Students can pursue careers in journalism, advertising, sales, public relations, television, radio, and marketing, among many others after I graduate.

How will you use your degree upon graduation?
As of now I don't have my mind set on one specific job. My main goal is to gain as much knowledge and experience in the media-communication field while I am in college and have the option to choose from a few different job offers.

What activities are you involved in?
I am a mentor with the Dowling Mentor Program and I have an on-air position with 91.1 WRMU, the campus radio station. I am also a member of the Association of Women in Communication.

Elements a person should possess to succeed in your major?
Communication and media majors should have good communication skills and should be creative and hard-working.
