What type of interesting features do you incorporate into your classes? We do service work in health related settings throughout the Alliance community. Students also hold a poster session and a health fair and they spend time in schools observing and teaching health education. When possible, we do hands-on activities in class that bring health concepts to life.
How do Mount Union students benefit from attending a small school as opposed to a larger school? Students at Mount Union College receive more individual attention from faculty. We can really get to know our students, which results in a better learning environment. Also, students seem to have an easier time making friends in smaller classes.
Have you done any interesting research or developed any interesting courses at Mount Union? If so, explain. I have developed 5 courses, as my major is quite new. I teach human sexuality, which is certainly my most fun and interesting class. Developing my curriculum and courses takes most of my time, but I am working on a few small research projects with the Alliance YMCA.
What kinds of opportunities do Mount Union students have after graduating from College? As my major is new, I only have a few graduates thus far. Most of them are teaching health and/or physical education in schools throughout the country. In general, I think Mount Union alumni have a wonderful range of opportunities after college; they are well-prepared for both graduate school and careers.
In what activities do you participate in your spare time? I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter, reading, exercising and participating in a social club for women in Alliance.
