#24 Purple Raiders Take Second at Salisbury Invitational

Mount Union's men's cross country team, ranked 24th in Division III in a poll conducted by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, finished second (39 points) out of 12 teams competing at the Salisbury Invitational in Salisbury, MD on Saturday, September 30.

Senior Jeremy Velliquette (Fremont/St. Joseph) led the way for the Purple & White by finishing first with a time of 25:10.

Other top finishers included sophomore Dustin Ford (Canton/Perry) who placed sixth at 25:41, junior Jason Sigmund (Streetsboro/Walsh Jesuit) who finished eighth at 25:45, junior Brian Bernard (Stow) who placed 11th at 25:49, senior Ryan Garro (Mogadore/Lake) who placed 13th at 26:09, sophomore Justin Meeson (Lakewood) who finished 15th at 26:17, and freshman Dan Whisler (Ashland) who placed 18th at 26:30.

East Stroudsburg (32 points) won the team title with host Salisbury (75 points) finishing third.

The Purple Raiders will next compete in the All-Ohio Championships on Friday, October 6.
