Lady Raiders Place Second At Mount Union Open

Mount Union College's women’s indoor track and field team was one of nine competing schools at the Mount Union College Open on Saturday, February 4 at the Peterson Field House in Alliance, Ohio. The women's squad placed second overall (95 points) in final team standings. Leading the way for the Lady Raiders and earning a first place finish was Jen Farrell in the 800 meter run (2:26.40). Other top finishes came from Julie Bitzel in the 500 meter dash (4th(1:25.86), Jamie Musick in the one mile run (3rd/5:28.70), Kelli Kranek in the 1,000 meter run (3rd/3:22.44), Hiromi Takahashi in the 3,000 meter run (4th/11:56.79), and Christina Ippolito in the 55 meter hurdles (4th/9.17). Malone (105 points) finished first in the final team standings followed by Mount Union (95), Edinboro (81), Slippery Rock (80), Penn State Behrend (56), Walsh University (29), Buffalo State (24), Thiel (21), and Walsh (2). The Purple Raiders will next travel to Berea, Ohio on Friday, February 10, to participate in the Mid February Meet. Competition begins at 6 p.m. |
