Blythe Beatrice on her summer experience with NASA in Florida.......
Over my college career, I have spent three years learning new skills and wondering how much I was really learning and how I could put it to good use. After spending my summer doing an internship for NASA, during which I archived data and reprogrammed a database for Boeing’s Configuration Management, I now know how many skills I really have learned and how to put them to good use.
Although most of the lessons I learn through this internship are computer or technical skills, also learned about NASA, Boeing, and myself. When I was a little kid, I used to be mystified by space travel and NASA in general. Up until this internship, I did not understand how much more there was to NASA than just launching rockets into space and getting really amazing pictures of outer space. My experience here taught me the complexity behind every little step that goes into the final out comes of NASA’s projects. I also learned how much space travel and research has improved the world we live in. I now have a lot more respect for the NASA organization and the people who risk their lives by just doing their jobs. Blythe witnesses the launch of Discovery
"This summer I worked in the Law Department at The Timken Company in North Canton, Ohio. My internship experience allowed me to use the knowledge and skills that I learned at Mount Union College in the classroom, and apply them in a Business setting. Nothing in life can help a person out more, than to go out into the Business World and apply techniques and knowledge that you have gained, and actually put them to use. Although, my internship was not in my major, the projects that I worked on allowed me to see just how different departments and areas within a corporation work together to achieve the goals of the organization. It also allowed me to work on certain things that were aspects of my major. My internship at The Timken Company provided me with not only real world experience, but also a foundation to begin my career. It provided me with a once in a lifetime opportunity to gain experience, and I would recommend everyone participate in an internship, if not internships, before they graduate."

The experience gave me the opportunity to apply the lessons I learned at Mount Union in a professional setting. Mount Union College and FedEx Custom Critical combined gave me the foundation I need to be successful throughout my career."
