Track and Field Teams Host Mount Union Open

Mount Union College’s men and women’s outdoor track and field teams hosted the non-scored Mount Union Open on Saturday, April 11 inside Mount Union Stadium.
The men’s team was led by Shannon Bennington, who set an NCAA Division III automatic qualifying mark with his winning height of 16-05.50.
The Raiders produced seven other individual winners including, Nic Saluppo in the 100 meter dash (11.06) and 200 meter dash (22.51), Justin Archer in the shot put (15.09), Luke Moore in the triple jump (44-03), Ryan Garro in the 800 (1:54.4), Jeremy Velliquette in the 1,500 meter run (4:00.4), and the 4x100 meter relay team (42.03).
The women’s team provided the hometown spectators with a NCAA Division III Provisional qualifying toss in the javelin throw from Susan Pilarski, who had a winning toss of 128-06.
Three other individual victories including Amanda Kolanz in the high jump (5-02), Brittany Moor in the pole vault (10-06), and Becky Zink in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (12:15),
Mount Union will next compete at the Stark County Triangular at Malone College on Tuesday, April 12 in Canton, Ohio. The Stark County meet will consist of Malone, Mount Union and Walsh.
