Several Raiders Earn All-American Status At Division III Indoor Track Nationals

Mount Union's men's team had two individuals and one relay squad earn All-American at the Division III Indoor Track Nationals, held on the campus of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, on Friday and Saturday, March 9-10 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Overall, the Raiders finished 14th in the country with a total of 13 points scored at Nationals.

On Saturday, Raider senior Nic Saluppo (Wadsworth/Highland) finished third in the nation in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.36. He had advanced to the finals at Nationals with a time of 6.41 in Friday's preliminaries.

Junior Dan Gund (Madison) also earned All-American status in the shot put - placing eighth overall (51-6.5). Junior Justin Archer (Orrville), who had a toss of 48-11.5, and senior Justin Rodhe (Garrettsville/Kenston), who had a throw of 49-4.25, also competed at Nationals for the Raiders in the same event - taking 11th and 10th respectively.

On Friday, the Purple Raider distance medley relay squad of junior Kyle Basista (Westlake/Elyria Catholic), senior Ryan Garro (Mogadore/Lake), freshman Cecil Shorts III (Cleveland/Collinwood) and senior Jeremy Velliquette (Fremont/St. Joseph) earned All-American honors by taking third overall (10:03.44) at Nationals.

On the women’s side, Raider junior Amanda Kolanz (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) placed 13th overall at Nationals on Friday in the high jump (5-2.25).

The top eight finishers in each event at Nationals earn All-American status.
