Raider Men's Track Team Wins Mount Union Open

Mount Union College's men’s indoor track and field team was one of nine competing schools at the Mount Union College Open on Saturday, February 4 at the Peterson Field House in Alliance, Ohio. The men's squad placed first overall (188.50 points) in final team standings.

Leading the way for the men and earning first place finishes were Eric Belancic in the high jump (1.95m), Justin Rhode in the shot put (50-10.00), Nic Saluppo in the 55 meter dash (6.53), Beau Livengood in the 500 meter dash (1:07.48), Jeremy Velliquette in both the one mile run (4:23.81) and 1,000 meter run (2:35.80), and Ryan Garro in the 800 meter run (1:54.40).

Other top finishes came from James Cunningham in the 55 meter dash (4th/6.65), Rahim Bradshaw in both the 300 meter dash (3rd/36.94) and the 400 meter dash (2nd/50.41), John Palmer in the 500 meter dash (3rd/1:08.050), Kyle Basista in both the one mile run (3rd/4:32.91) and the 1,000 meter run (2nd/2:38.09), Lance Murphy in the 800 meter run (2nd/2:01.92), Jason Sigmund in the 3,000 meter run (2nd/9:00.01), and C.J. Lockhart in the 55 meter hurdles (2nd/8.17).

Slippery Rock (59.50) finished second in the final team standings followed by Edinboro (57), Buffalo State (47), Thiel (46), Malone (41), Penn State Behrend (28), Walsh (18), and Geneva (5).

The Purple Raiders will next travel to Berea, Ohio on Friday, February 10, to participate in the Mid February Meet. Competition begins at 6 p.m.
