Purple Raiders Earn A Pair Of Shutout Wins
Mount Union's softball team (3-1) continued its spring trip with a pair of shutout victories, 12-0 over Misericordia, PA (2-2) and 9-0 over Wittenberg (3-1) on Monday, March 5 in Orlando, FL. Both games were called after five innings.
Lindsey Royer (1-1) picked up the victory in game one, allowing only one hit and striking out seven. Stephanie Cain picked up her first career save.
Offensively, the Raiders were led by centerfielder Cortney Frederick, who went 3-for-4 with a career-high six RBI. She highlighted Mount Union's four-run third inning with an inside the park grand slam. Third baseman Karly Tennant and catcher Crystal Thomas each went 2-for-3. Tennant drove in four.

Royer (2-1) picked up the win in game two as well, surrendering only two hits and fanning four. She also went 3-for-3 from the plate with three RBI.
Shortstop Carissa Prince was 3-for-3, rightfielder Erin Duignan was 1-for-3 with an two-run double, and Frederick was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
