NCAA Provisional Marks and School Record Highlights Day At Mount Union Indoor Invitational

Mount Union College's men and women's indoor track and field teams hosted the non-scored Mount Union Invitational on Saturday, February 26 inside the Peterson Field House. Teams competing included Bethany, Geneva, Mount Union, Malone, Notre Dame (Ohio),  Penn State Behrend, Walsh, and Westminster.

The men's squad produced six NCAA Division III provisional national qualifing performances. James Cunningham in the 55 meter dash (1st/6.47), Eric Belancic in the high jump (1st/6-08), Kyle Basista in the mile (1st/4:16.9), , Shannon Bennington in the pole vault (1st/15-06.25), Matt Cole in the 55 meter high hurdles (1st/7.57), and Jeremy Velliquette in the mile (2nd/4:16.83) all provisionally qualified in their respective events.

Cole continues to climb up the NCAA Division III charts, as his personal best time of 7.57 on the day is currently the second best time posted in Division III this season.

Along with the NCAA qualifiers, four other Raiders earned individual victories, including Beau Livengood in the 300 meter dash (36.71), and 500 meter dash (1:06.89), Bishmi Bradshaw in the 400 meter dash (52.62), Justin Rodhe in the shot (50-04.25),  the Purple and White 4x160 meter relay squad (1:13.20), and 1600 meter relay team (3:30.80).

The Lady Raiders were led by a school record setting performance by Dara Ford, who set the College's top time in the 3,000 meters with a winning time of 10:20.60, and Raina Keppler's individual victories in the 300 meter dash (44.18), and 400 meter dash (1:01.78).

Ford's 3,000 meter performance smashes the old school record which was set by former All-American Natalie Lambert in 1997 (10:51.01).

Other first place finishes came from the Erin McCauley in the mile (5:22.60), Melanie Drotleff in the shot (38-09.00), and the 4x400 meter relay squad (4:15.40).

Mount Union will next compete at the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships to be held on Friday, March 5 & Saturday, March 6, at Marietta College.
