Mount Union’s Kyla Hogan & Scott Casto Earn Clyde A. Lamb Award

Mount Union College senior student/athletes Kyla Hogan (Ravenna) and Scott Casto (Uniontown/Green) have been selected as the College’s 2005-06 Clyde Lamb Award winners in recognition of outstanding work both in the classroom and on the field of play, announced the Ohio Athletic Conference office on Monday, May 15.

Hogan, a four-year basketball letter winner at guard who played in 103 of 104 total games during her tenure at Mount Union, finished her career with 915 points, 298 steals and 272 assists. She earned Second-Team All-OAC status in 2005-06 and was a three-time Academic All-OAC performer (’04, ’05, ’06). She was an exercise science major with a 3.76 grade point average.

Casto, a two-year starter and four-year letter winner at wide receiver for the Purple Raider football team, earned First-Team All-OAC status in 2005 while being named the Ed Sherman Award winner as the conference’s top receiver. This past fall, he set a Raider single-season record with 78 receptions for 1,223 yards and 11 touchdowns - helping the Purple Raiders claim a record eighth Division III National Championship. In his career, he had 107 receptions for 1,747 yards and 16 receiving scores. He was a political science major carrying a 3.70 GPA.

A total of 10 male and 10 female student-athletes representing the 10 Ohio Athletic Conference institutions are annually named Clyde Lamb recipients.

Criteria for the award include at least two year’s participation in an OAC-sponsored sport, senior status, a minimum grade point average of 3.00 and sportsmanlike conduct in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete and his/her institution.
