Mount Union Falls To Wittenberg

The Purple Raider women's soccer team (0-5) fell, 4-1, to Wittenberg (4-0-3), on Saturday, Sept. 18 at Mount Union Stadium.

After a scoreless first period the Tigers got on the scoreboard first with a goal by Rachel Morgan assisted by Amanda Farrell just three minutes into the period. The Purple Raiders tied the game at one when Courtney Frederick put Laura Bandy's corner kick into the back of the net. Wittenberg took the lead when Emily Hiscar's pass found Lisa Rusch for a goal. The Tigers added another goal when Liz Volz scored on an assist from Hiscar. Five minutes later the Tigers scored on a Abby Vanderbosch goal assisted by Stacy Fennell for a 4-1 lead.

For the game shots were even at eight apiece and the Raiders held an edge in corner kicks, four to two.

Raider goalie Sarah Cochran had a save, while the Tigers' Meghan O'Rourke had three.

The Lady Raiders will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 22 when they play host to Grove City at 7 p.m.
