Registration Office Mission & Goals
Mission: The Registration Office is responsible for providing the academic record-keeping function required by Mount Union College and providing a large part of the planning, management and operational information required by the College. The Office goal is to support the faculty and administration in their efforts to realize the goals and objectives of the College; to support the students in their efforts to obtain an education; and to provide services and information needed by the wider public--including alumni and former students.
The office seeks to help the College accomplish its Mission by:
1. maintaining all current and historical academic student records and issuing transcripts of academic records as provided by law;
2. collecting grades and issuing grade reports and maintaining historic grade report records;
3. with the assistance of the departments, developing, preparing, publishing, and maintaining each term's schedule of classes;
4. registering all students for classes each term;
5. assisting in and maintaining the processes of determining eligibility for graduation, honors, athletic participation, VA benefits, and the like.;
6. providing assistance in the process of oversight of academic regulations and rules, including the preparation and maintenance of the College Catalogue and having the Registration Office serve as secretary to the Committee on Academic Policies and on the Cross Curriculum Development Committee;
7. providing assistance in the advising process by (a) preparing and publishing standard and special reports, newsletters, information updates, (b) providing individual assistance to students, advisors, department chairs as needed, (c) evaluating transfer work for potential and admitted transfer students, and (d) having the Registration Office serves as the initial advisor to all new transfer students;
8. providing institutional research support for the College by assisting the Director of Institutional Research in preparing studies and reports needed by the faculty and administration for planning, management and operational purposes, maintaining a FACT BOOK and retention studies, and completing other such functions as directed by the President or Academic Vice President.
