A student may enroll in a total of nineteen (19) semester hours of courses—excluding applied music courses—and not have an overload.  Applied music courses are not included in the total used to determine overloads.  Thus a student enrolled for 21 hours, two of which were for a piano or voice lesson, would not be considered to have an overload.

A late registration fee of $50 is levied for registration to add courses during the second week of classes.  A late registration fee of $100 is levied for registration to add courses during the third week of classes.  These fees are only applied once for courses added during the second week of school or for courses added during the third week of school.  A student might add a course on Tuesday and on Wednesday of the second week of classes but would only be charged the late fee for the add on Tuesday.

Late fees must be paid through the Office of Business Affairs prior to registration.

To enroll in a closed section of a class a student must obtain permission from the Chair of the Department (or her/his designate) offering the course.  In most cases the faculty member teaching the section may grant such approval.  This approval must be verified by that persons’ signature on the Schedule Change Form adding that particular course and section.

Once the schedule of classes for the upcoming semester is available you may contact your advisor and work out a schedule for the that semester.  Your advisor can then inform the Registration Office of the courses you wish to take and that Office will register you as soon as Registration opens.  If you are able to get access to IQ.Web from where you are studying you can also register on the Web as long as your advisor has authorized you.

You must get permission from your advisor and the Registrar to attend another college as a “transient student” prior to enrollment at that institution.  When a transient course is being taken to satisfy a major or minor requirement the Chair of the major or minor Department must also approve the course.  When the course is taken after you have earned 90 or more credit hours your Department Chair’s approval is required.  These approvals will include a determination of course and credit equivalency.

Transient approval must be obtained before attendance each semester or term in which you enroll at another institution.

Grades and credits for transient course work will be included in the computation of your Mount Union GPA.

MountUnionCollege approval to take transient work does not guarantee that you will be admitted or be allowed to take these courses by the other institution.
