Inauguration
Dr. Richard F. Giese was formally installed as the president of Mount Union College on Friday, September 30, 2005 at an inauguration ceremony held on the south portico of Chapman Hall. Among the audience were delegates from 49 colleges and universities; class representatives from the Class of 1934 through 2004; members of the Board of Trustees; members of the faculty, administration and campus community; and hundreds of alumni and friends of the College.
The Inauguration of Dr. Giese as Mount Union’s 11th president celebrates the academic excellence of the institution. With academics at the forefront of the Mount Union experience, the College will continue the tradition of challenging students to encounter new ideas as they stretch their minds.
During the Inauguration celebration, the Mount Union community honored the tradition of academic excellence that began in 1846 and looked toward a bright future where students will continue to learn, experience and excel. The College reaffirmed its mission to prepare students for meaningful work, fulfilling lives and responsible citizenship.
