Faculty Information About Disability Support Services
Faculty at Mount Union College have the right to:
- Ask for verification of disability and eligibility for services from DSS;
- Consult with DSS as appropriate in providing reasonable and appropriate accommodations;
- Expect students with disabilities to meet the same academic standards as their peers;
- Expect DSS to use appropriate test security measures to insure the integrity of exams;
- Expect students to request accommodations in a timely manner.
Faculty at Mount Union College have the responsibility to:
- Include in each course syllabi a statement regarding disclosure to encourage students to discuss their needs early in the semester. The preferred statement for course syllabi is available from DSS;
- Meet with students confidentially upon notification of need for accommodation.
- Provide accommodations in a fair and timely manner. Providing accommodations is not negotiable; the way the accommodation is provided is;
- Contact DSS with questions or suggestions regarding the appropriateness of the accommodation. In case of dispute, the accommodation should continue to be provided until settlement has been reached;
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of a student's disability.
