Mount Union College is approved by the Ohio Department of Education for the preparaton and licensure of teachers. The Adult Studies program offers licensure in two areas for those with a bachelor's degree: Adolescence to Young Adult (grades 7-12) and Multiage (preschool - grade 12).

AYA classes are taught in the evening, but students must be aware of the field experience component that requires occasional attendance during the school day. Also, some courses leading to the multiage license are offered only during the day.

In addition to meeting and maintaining the requirements for admission to the Teacher Education Program and completing course requirements for the licensure area, teacher candidates must meet the qualifying score on the Praxis II tests.

Postbaccalaureate students with an interest in early childhood (preschool-grade 3) or middle childhood (grades 4-9) may pursue licensure through the daytime program at Mount Union. Tuition will be charged at the traditional rate.
